Big Bag bags and PE films for the agricultural and fertiliser industries

Big Pak produces Big Bags (FIBC) and PE liners for the agricultural sector - for the transport and storage of fertilisers, grains, feed, and agrochemicals. Production facility in Ełk, delivery to Poland and the EU.

What do companies in this industry pack?

Big Bag (FIBC) sacks are standard transport packaging in agriculture and agribusiness - from granulated fertilisers to grain and feed. Below are the most common materials and their packaging requirements.
MaterialPackaging typeNotes
Granular fertilisers (NPK, urea, ammonium nitrate)Single-loop bag with PE linerThe liner protects against moisture; some fertilizers require UN 13H3/13H4
Loose fertilisers (superphosphate, ammonium sulphate)Single-loop bag with PE linerHigh hygroscopicity — insert mandatory
Cereals (wheat, maize, oilseed rape, barley)Single-loop or four-loop bagWithout an insert or with an insert – depending on the storage time
Feeds and premixesSingle-loop bag with PE linerDirect or indirect contact with feed required — verification upon ordering
SeedsFour-loop Big bag with four loopsPrecise loading and unloading — often with a boat-type outlet
Plant protection products (granular)UN 13H3/13H4 bag with linerUN certificate required for materials classified as dangerous

Transport packaging - Big Bag (FIBC) sacks

Big Pak specialises in single-loop FIBC bags for the fertiliser segment - this is our main line and area of greatest expertise. We also supply four-loop bags for other agricultural products.
Bag typeFor which materialsKey feature
Single-pointFertilisers, grain, animal feedEasy unloading through the bottom outlet; PE liner as standard; stackable for low allow stackability for lowerWeights can stacked at lighter or smaller weights can be stacked
Four-hookSeeds, bulk grain, materials of various granulationGreater stability when stacking; more precise loading
UN-certified 13H3/13H4Granulated plant protection products, classified agrochemicalsRequired for the transport of dangerous goods — active certificate

Logistics data:

Minimum order of single-loop bags: 500 pcs (1 pallet)

Response time: 24h / 1 working day

Transport: road only (trucks); 5,000–10,000 pcs / truck for 1,000 kg bags

PE foils and liners

For each Big Bag, we produce a PE liner
at our own plant in Ełk. The liners are tailor-made to fit the bag and are available in various thicknesses - depending on the material requirements and
storage time.

PE liners for Big Bags:

Standard: PE liner without approval - fertilisers, technical grain, industrial feed

food-grade - fertilisers, technical grain, industrial feed.

Industrial foils:

PE sleeves and films for wrapping pallets with Big Bags - transport protection.

Shrink films for load

Closed loop - GRS documentation for ESG reporting

Fertiliser manufacturers and agro companies operating in the Western European market are increasingly requiring environmental documentation from suppliers for ESG reporting and procurement processes.

Big Pak has a Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certificate active since 2024. Big Bag sacks containing recycled polypropylene (rPP) are available on request - GRS documentation is ready to be attached to tenders and reports in the EU and DACH markets.

What agricultural materials can be transported in Big Bags?

Big Bag (FIBC) packaging produced by Big Pak is used for the transport and storage of granular and bulk fertilisers (NPK, urea, ammonium nitrate, superphosphate), grains (wheat, maize, rapeseed), feed and premixes, seeds, as well as sugar and flour (food-grade version). For agrochemicals classified as hazardous, a bag with UN 13H3/13H4 certification is required.

Do fertiliser Big Bags require a PE liner?

Yes - in the case of hygroscopic fertilisers (urea, ammonium nitrate, superphosphate), a PE liner is a standard, not an option. It protects the material from moisture during transport and storage. Big Pak produces PE liners in its own facility - tailored to the dimensions of the bag.

Jaka jest różnica między workiem jednozaczepowym a czterozaczepowym w rolnictwie?

The single-loop bag is the standard in the fertiliser segment – a single lifting point facilitates mechanical unloading, and the lower production cost translates into a better price for large volumes. The four-loop bag is used where stacking stability or loading precision is key – for example, with seeds or grain intended for long-term storage. Big Pak specialises in single-loop bags for the fertiliser segment – with clients including Yara and Grupa Azoty.

Do Big Bag bags for fertilisers require a UN certificate?

Not always - a UN 13H3/13H4 certificate is only required for materials classified as hazardous in transport (for example, certain agrochemicals and ammonium nitrate-based fertilisers in specific concentrations). Standard NPK fertilisers and urea do not require UN certification. Big Pak holds an active UN 13H3/13H4 certificate - please contact us if you are unsure about the classification of your product.
